The Heinrich Kirchner Sculpture Park – Herald

The Herald is characterised by a reduced representation of the body, whose monumental, block-like stature is broken only by a protruding, figurative foot. This draws the observer’s gaze towards the upper limbs of the body: the sculpture’s right tube-like arm is raised vertically to the sky and points far beyond the figure. The fingers are also spread like rays of sunlight. The thin left arm, however, points towards the ground. Kirchner thus symbolises the Herald’s intermediary position between heaven and earth.
