The Heinrich Kirchner Sculpture Park – Conjuration and Encounter with the Spirit of New Creations

The four bronze sculptures Conjuration and Encounter with the Spirit of New Creations, Messenger of Peace and Slender Figure, which are all positioned directly next to each other, are part of the group entitled Encounter, which is formally characterised by big gestures.

The work Conjuration and Encounter with the Spirit of New Creations draws on the motif of walking and wandering that is central to Kirchner’s work, in that the long, thin legs are opened wide and are firmly embedded in the ground. They carry a very small and compact upper body, from which the thin arms are reaching upward. The hands are intertwined, thus underlining the devotion to God. The skyward posture is continued in the long neck and tilted-back head, directing the sculpture’s gaze towards the sky. Kirchner thus illustrates the connection between two forces: man’s confinement to earthly life and his striving towards God.
